USA to host T20 cricket world cup
The cricket world is buzzing with anticipation as the 9th edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is set to take place from June 1 to June 29, 2024. This time, the tournament will be co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies, marking the USA’s debut as the host for an ICC event.
A total of 55 matches will be played across 9 venues, with the USA to host T20 cricket world cup for the very first time having matches in – New York, Miami, and Dallas. This expansion of the Men’s T20 World Cup is a significant step, featuring a record-breaking 20 teams from Africa, the Americas, Asia, East-Asia Pacific, and Europe.
The groups for the tournament are as follows:
- Group A: Canada, India, Pakistan, Ireland, USA
- Group B: Australia, England, Scotland, Namibia and Oman
- Group C: West indies ,New Zealand, Afghanistan, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea
- Group D: Bangladesh, South Africa, Sri Lanka the Netherlands, and Nepal
The opening match on June 1 will see the USA taking on Canada at the Grand Prairie Cricket Stadium in Dallas. The highly anticipated India-Pakistan clash is scheduled for June 9 in a state-of-the-art 34,000-seat modular stadium in Nassau County, New York.
